Magnolia D. Levy
Magnolia D. Levy is a partner of LoPreto + Levy, LLP, a boutique law firm with an emphasis on matrimonial and family law. With a background in commercial litigation, Ms. Levy handles complex financial and custody matters from inception to conclusion and her practice also includes mediation. Both she and her partner, Virginia LoPreto, draw on their training as mediators in guiding their clients through the legal, financial and child-related aspects of divorce and separation. Ms. Levy also serves on the New York Supreme Court roster as a court-appointed mediator with the Matrimonial Mediation Pilot Program.
Before her term as President, Ms. Levy served as a Vice President from 2018 to 2022 and held the positions of Recording Secretary (2017-2018) and Corresponding Secretary (2016-2017). She served as co-chair of the Annual Judges Reception from 2014 to 2022, co-chair of the Membership Reception from 2014 to 2021, and co-chair of the Judiciary Committee from 2017-2019.
In addition to her work with the NYWBA, Ms. Levy is extremely proud of her involvement with Judges and Lawyers Breast Cancer Alert (JALBCA) and serves as a Vice President. Ms. Levy helped to co-found, and serves as a co-chair of, JALBCA’s monthly Support Group which hosts meetings for members of the legal community whose lives have been touched by breast cancer. Ms. Levy also served as JALBCA Assistant Secretary from 2021-2022 and served on the Membership and Advisory Committees. A graduate of The Dalton School in 1996, Ms. Levy received her B.A. from Colgate University in 2000 and her Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School in 2003.
Those who know Ms. Levy well know that she touts the fact that she is a born and raised New Yorker. Less frequently publicized is that she decamped to Westchester in 2019 (pre-pandemic) where she happily settled into a suburban life with her husband, their two children and their three rescue dogs.
