Annual Membership Meeting, Elections
and Ethics CLE Program

Join us at the Annual Meeting. Mingle with members, get updates on the Association and vote on the NYWBA and WBASNY Officers, Directors and Delegates for next year. This is one of the highlights of our year, and we hope that you will join in the festivities!

Following the Annual Meeting, a panel of distinguished ethics attorneys will present the following CLE program:

“The Ethics of Political Engagement”

Political activity has hit an all-time high during the last several months, with calls to action coming from nearly every direction. It should come as no surprise that many of the people on the front lines are lawyers. But just because a lawyer steps out of the office it does not mean she leaves the ethics rules behind. Whether a lawyer is on the picket line or in the room where it happens, the ethics rules may still be in play. Join us for a program that will focus on issues that arise for lawyers who engage in political activity.

The program will be moderated by Nicole I. Hyland, a partner in the Litigation Group and Professional Responsibility Group at Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz P.C. and Co-Chair of the NYWBA Professional Ethics & Discipline Committee.  The program will feature commentary from Hon. Joan B. Lobis of the New York County Supreme Court; Prof. Nicole Gordon, former Executive Director of the New York City Campaign Finance Board; and Ting Ting Cheng, Esq., Legal Director of The Women’s March. The panel will discuss how the ethics rules can play a role in a lawyer’s decision to seek or hold political office or engage in political speech.
