Dianne Abeloff

Dianne Abeloff graduated from Smith College in 1977 and Cardozo Law School in 1980. In addition to serving as President, she held many NYWBA positions over the years, and she was a mentor to numerous NYWBA Presidents and Board members. During her 30-year career as an attorney with the Bureau of Professional Medical Conduct at the New York State Department of Health, Ms. Abeloff was responsible for overseeing investigations and prosecuting physicians for professional misconduct, ranging from sex abuse to gross deviations from accepted medical standards. For her expertise, distinction, and leadership, Ms. Abeloff received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the New York
State Commissioner of Health. She retired in April 2015 and passed away in 2016. She and her husband, who predeceased her, were parents of two adult sons, whom they adored.
