“The DCIS Controversy Through the Lens of Better Science:
Will President Obama’s Precision Medicine Initiative Save Lives?”
The Precision Medicine Initiative (PMI), announced by President Obama to advance the field of precision oncology, will be explored against the backdrop of established approaches to care. The panel will discuss the new studies regarding treatment of DCIS, whether it impacts the standard of care to be employed by physicians treating DCIS, informed consent, and the benefits and availability of personalized “precision” medicine.
