Elder Law & Disabilities Committee Lunch & Learn Series Presents
Practice of Guardianship Law:  Dialogue on Compassion Fatigue

Moderator:  Sofiya Nozhnik, Esq.

Panelist:  Dr. Julie Davelman

Lawyers that are regularly called on to empathetically listen to their clients’ stories, read descriptions of traumatic events, and observe their clients in distressing settings are also at risk of experiencing compassion fatigue.   Whether representing petitioners/cross-petitioners/allegedly incapacitated persons or serving as court evaluators or guardians, guardianship attorneys are at high risk of experiencing compassion fatigue.  Join us for a dialogue with Dr. Julie Davelman, a licensed psychologist, about the differences between compassion fatigue and burnout, how to recognize compassion fatigue in your practice as a guardianship law attorney, and ways to combat compassion fatigue to protect yourself and your practice.
