A Tradition of Service
Founded in 1935, the New York Women’s Bar Association is a non-profit organization devoted to promoting the fair and equal administration of justice. NYWBA strives to improve the status of women, educate lawyers and judges, and support professional development and advancement.
NYWBA is part of a statewide network of attorneys and judges. Members receive our newsletter, the newsletter of our statewide organization WBASNY, and a statewide membership directory. You can join our innovative committees and “mentoring circles” and work on important projects. You will be entitled to discounts for insurance, car rentals, and hotels.
NYWBA Newsletter
Comprehensive information about the Association and its current activities can be found in our NYWBA Newsletter, which is published monthly (except in July and August) and is available to all members. Click here to download our current newsletter in PDF format.
We are always eager to hear about our members and to publish articles and information of interest to our members. If you want to write an article or
submit an announcement for inclusion in the newsletter, please send an email
containing your proposal to Diana Ceccacci at Newsletter@nywba.org. Submissions must be received by the 10th of the month for publication in the next issue. All submissions become the property of NYWBA. We reserve
the right to edit or reject submissions for space or any reason.
NYWBA also sponsors numerous special events, including our annual membership reception, where we salute our New York Women’s Bar Association Fellows, who work at local domestic violence clinics and other charities that address the legal and financial needs of women and children through a grant program administered by the New York Women’s Bar Association Foundation. Other events include an annual awards dinner and an annual reception for newly elected and appointed judges.
NYWBA also offers sophisticated CLE courses that are presented in an enjoyable way while fulfilling all CLE requirements. These highly regarded courses are offered at very reasonable rates for members. They provide the opportunity to enhance one’s knowledge of law and practice while meeting knowledgeable and interesting colleagues.
Networking and mentoring are essential parts of the NYWBA experience. Many members have changed the course of their careers through their membership in NYWBA. In addition to our important history of supporting women in the legal profession, NYWBA today is a place to learn important legal skills, meet accomplished female and male attorneys and judges, network to enhance one’s position, join interesting and innovative committees, affect legislation, share experiences in the legal field through mentoring groups, and cultivate lifelong friendships, and that is just for starters.
Whatever your present or future area of law, we are sure you will find a welcome reception among our esteemed and diverse membership.
As a not-for-profit bar association under the laws of New York State, NYWBA is open to attorneys, judges, law students, and law school graduates awaiting admission.
