Does your practice include Family Law? Or would you like it to? Come join our newly reformatted Family & Matrimonial Law Committee. As part of our focus on Family Court and the compelling needs of children and their parent-litigants there, we have expanded our former committee to include an entire Family Law component. Committee Chair Jennifer Brown is working with two extraordinary co-chairs. Rhoda Clary, a sole practitioner, will be responsible for the Matrimonial side of this growing committee (already our largest), and Joan Tannenbaum, Supervising attorney for ACS in Family Court, NY County, has generously agreed to be our Family Law co-chair. The meetings will include the Matrimonial Court Attorneys, and the Family Court’s Court Attorneys and Referees, and many more. Please stay tuned for notices from Briana Denney, the committee’s Corresponding Secretary, and let us know at info@nywba.org if you want to join. Check the calendar now for committee meeting dates for the year.

Welcome to the New York Women's Bar Association. We are a non-profit organization devoted to improving the status of women in society, educating women lawyers and assisting them in professional development and advancement, and promoting the fair and equal administration of justice. We are entering our 74th year, and proud of it.
We accomplish these goals through the work of our committees, the presentation of continuing legal education programs, and being a strong presence in WBASNY, the statewide organization we founded some 36 years ago. Through our affiliation with the Women's Bar Association of the State of New York, we also review and comment upon proposed legislation and policy initiatives of concern to women and children at the state, federal and international levels. Every single voice in our organization raises our voice in the larger group. Issues critical to us are heard and voted on at WBASNY meetings, and our the strength of our vote (and the number of our delegates) is a function of our own membership.
Please, join us in being heard. Our membership year is June 1st to May 31st, along with our officers' and board's term. We start anew, and you do too. Please be sure to click here to download a membership form or here to join or renew online. No reason to wait--enjoy membership benefits from day one.
In her last President's Message, outgoing President Lisa A. Sokoloff speaks about standing up for ourselves and America. To view the President's Message in full, click here.
